Edinburgh airport ranked among best in Europe

Bosses at Edinburgh airport have praised staff for their hard work after the base was ranked among the best in Europe in the annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey.

The independent poll of passenger satisfaction saw Edinburgh named the second best gateway in Europe – behind Malta and ahead of Porto Airport in Portugal – on the strength of its terminal, services and facilities.

An ASQ Award was presented to the Scottish capital’s airport in recognition of the positive feedback from passengers who were interviewed while waiting to board their flight.

Several factors were taken into account to assess the quality of customer service on offer at different bases, including ambience, the cleanliness of the terminal, comfort and helpfulness of staff.

Managing director Jim O’Sullivan said the ASQ accolade is a validation of the dedication and commitment of Edinburgh airport’s workforce.

He added: ‘ASQ scores are vital to us in improving our service because they give voice to our passengers. We’re listening to them and I believe that it is paying dividends.’

The base is served by airlines such as easyJet, KLM Cityhopper, Flybe and bmi.
