Lisbon Airport has unveiled the new-look shopping

Lisbon Airport has unveiled the new-look shopping offer available to departing passengers in Terminal 1.

Passengers can now shop for brands such as Ermenegildo Zegna, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry and BeTrend.store – an outlet retailing brands such as Armani Jeans, Guess, Furla, Michael Kors, and DKNY).

Other famous names include Lacoste and H.Stern, which will be joined in the next few weeks by Ralph Lauren and Montblanc.

The walk-through stores provide a break in tradition for the airport, which previously boasted separate shopping areas, as does the passenger friendly technology – tablet displays – in the perfumery, cigar and whisky sections of the Just for Travellers Duty Free Store.

There are also a range of screens located throughout the store that inform customers about the very latest products and promotions.

According to Luis Rodolfo, the airport’s retail director, this new retail area will allow the operator ANA to “better serve the needs of passengers travelling to South America and Africa, generally perceived as having higher purchase power”.

Broadway Malyan, the international architecture, urbanism and design firm, carried out the architectural and stylistic design of the interiors and the retail-planning layout of the airport’s new outlets.

Stuart Rough, Lisbon office director, comments: “The conclusion of this phase is another step towards completing the airport’s redesign project and bears witness to the partnership developed between our design specialists and the client.

“We’re keen on supporting the implementation of the next project phases that should be completed by the end of the year and will completely transform the experience of passengers using the airport.”

In 2011, retail activity at Portugal’s gateways earned the ANA revenues in excess of €50 million. It hopes the new facilities at Lisbon will help boost this figure to €75 million by 2016.
