ACI revalidates certification of five national airports as models of good practices.

ACI – Airports Council International revalidated the certification of five national airports – Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Ponta Delgada (under direct management of ANA) and Funchal (managed by the affiliate ANAM), as models of good practices in their management*.

The Francisco Sá Carneiro airport (Porto) achieved a score of 80.1%, the Lisbon airport a score of 77.6%, the Faro airport a score of 78.7% and the João Paulo II airport (Ponta Delgada) a score of 77%. Along with the ANA airports, the Madeira airport (ANAM) was also certified: 77% was the result achieved. As a reminder, these were the first European airports to receive this acknowledgement, which occurred in 2010.

In the words of the Chairman of ANA’s Board, Guilhermino Rodrigues, “with the revalidation of the ACI certification, the services offered by the Portuguese airports are on a par with the most demanding Companies in the sector”.

The ACI Certification is a process based on self-assessment criteria whose goal is the recognition that the airports’ management is focused on the improvement of their performance and on the quality of service adopting the best applicable practices in the sector.

The airports develop plans of action using the results of passenger surveys (ASQ Survey) and of the performance measurements conducted on all the Airport Process (ASQ Performance). At the end of each year, the results obtained in the measurements are compared (objective monitoring) with the results of the passengers’ satisfaction evaluation surveys (subjective monitoring). This information allows for the comparison between the quality offered and the quality perceived by the passengers.

*The ACI Certification ensures due recognition of the Quality of the service in the airport industry by an independent entity, thus demonstrating the commitment of ANA’s management not only to the industry’s best practices but also to its stakeholders and to the regulator
